Wooden Surfboards
Not necessarily.
Our boards are designed to balance weight and durability, making them comparable in weight to traditional foam boards while being significantly stronger. For boards over 7’ and alternative shapes (like fishes or mini-Simmons), the weight is similar to conventional foam boards. Performance shortboards, however, are about 20% heavier than their foam counterparts.
We prioritize eco-friendly materials like sustainably sourced wood, cork, partially bio-sourced resins and natural oils. Our process minimizes waste, reduces synthetic resins, and focuses on longevity, creating boards that last much longer than traditional foam models.
Beyond materials, we also believe sustainability is about the way we work. During our workshops, we encourage a collaborative spirit, participants help each other, share tips, and enjoy the process together. Shaping a board becomes a collective experience rather than a solitary task, which adds meaning and connection to the final product.
Wooden surfboards take much more time to craft, use high-quality sustainable materials, and are built to last far longer than regular foam boards. Each one is made by hand, with care and precision. Nothing is mass-produced. What you're investing in is not just a surfboard, but a unique, durable, and consciously made piece that carries real craftsmanship.
Workshops
Our workshops take place at our atelier between Ericeira and Torres Vedras, Portugal.
Each day follows a structured process, from shaping and sanding to assembly and finishing. We will guide you through every stage, ensuring that you progress efficiently while enjoying a hands-on experience.
For more information check our workshop page →
The workshop typically runs from 1PM to 6PM on the first day, and from 9AM to 6PM on the following two days, with a lunch break in between. However, the finishing time may vary depending on the number of participants and the progress of each board.
To make sure everyone gets personal guidance and enough time to work on their board, our workshops are limited to a maximum of 10 surfboards being built at the same time.
Participants can choose to work individually or share the process with a friend. If you’d like to book a private group session or a team-building event, we may be able to arrange a specific date for you.
Get in touch → and we’ll see what we can do!
Before the start of the workshop, we need 3 days to laminate the panels and pre-cut key components of your surfboard to ensure a smooth start. When you step into the workshop, everything is set, and we can begin assembling and shaping right away!
After the workshop your board is built but not quite ready for the water yet. We handle the glassing since this process requires specialized space and curing time. It takes about 4 to 6 days to have your board ready. Glassing is included in the workshop price.
We recommend wearing comfortable work clothes and closed-toe shoes. We provide all the tools and materials, but if you have specific preferences for protective gear (e.g., gloves, mask), feel free to bring your own. We do suggest bringing a dust mask of your choice (an FFP2 mask is perfectly suitable).
Food is not included, but we provide plenty of snacks, fruits, drinks, coffee, and tea throughout the day. The workshop is quite isolated, with no restaurants or shops nearby, so we recommend bringing your own picnic. We also have a basic kitchen equipped with a fridge, allowing you to store your food and prepare simple meals on-site.
We can recommend local accommodations, great food spots, and some of the best surf breaks around Ericeira.

Custom Shape
After securing your workshop spot and selecting the custom surfboard option, you can contact us to start refining your idea. To help us understand what you’re looking for, please send us as much information as possible such as your surf level, the type of waves and board size you enjoy, your height and weight, models or brands you like, or even a specific board you'd like to replicate or tweak. Please note: for custom boards, we’ll need to finalize the design at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop.
We’ll design your board using CAD software and send you 3D proposals along with a detailed plan. From there, we can fine-tune the shape together until we reach your dream board.
Yes, but with some limits.
The natural grain of the wood is already a beautiful feature on its own, so we generally encourage keeping decoration minimal: like a logo or a simple geometric color illustration. You can personalize your board with a logo (maximum A4 size), which costs €50. Just send us the file beforehand or during the workshop. For color or more elaborate artwork, pricing is available on request, and we’ll be happy to discuss your ideas during the workshop.
If you didn’t find what you’re looking for in our fixed-shape models or if you selected the custom shape option, we’re here to help. You can book your spot first, we’ll then get in touch to guide you through the custom design process and make sure you end up with the board that fits you best.
Prefer to get advice before booking? No problem. Just send us an email → and we’re happy to talk it through with you.
Kits
If you’re building a board at home with one of our kits, some basic woodworking experience is helpful, but not essential. That said, it’s definitely easier if you’ve already attended one of our workshops (it gives you a solid foundation).
We’re currently working on a written guide and an online course to support you step by step. In the meantime, we provide detailed instructions with the kit, and our team is available if you need advice along the way.
Gift Card
The gift card can be used as credit towards any of our workshops. Simply choose an amount, enter the recipient’s details, and add a personal message. The recipient will receive the gift card by email and can redeem it when booking their workshop or order.
You can choose from €1100, €1350, or €1800, which can be applied towards different board models or workshop options.
The gift card will be sent directly to the recipient’s email on the selected delivery date. If you want to gift it personally, you can enter your own email and forward it later.
No, our gift cards do not expire. The recipient can redeem it at any time.
No, gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
If the total cost is higher than the gift card value, the recipient will need to pay the remaining balance directly with us when settling the final payment.
If the total cost is lower, the remaining amount will be stored as credit for the final payment, but it cannot be partially redeemed online.
You can purchase multiple gift cards, but each one must be processed individually. Since the system only allows one recipient per order, you’ll need to complete separate transactions if you want to send gift cards to different people.
To redeem the gift card, the recipient can enter the code at checkout when booking a workshop. Since only the €500 deposit is paid online, any remaining balance from the gift card will be applied directly to the final payment of the workshop. However, this must be arranged directly with us at the time of the final payment.
If the total cost of the workshop is higher than the gift card amount, the recipient will need to pay the remaining balance directly with us when settling the final payment.
Logistics
The workshop is quite isolated, about a 20-minute drive from Ericeira. If you're coming from abroad, especially outside the high season, we highly recommend having/renting a car, as off-season deals can be very attractive.
From Lisbon → Ericeira is accessible by bus (Nº2801 / Nº2740) from Campo Pequeno P22 (Metro) to Ericeira Center (Bus Terminal) / 50 minutes.
From Ericeira → You can take an Uber (20 minutes) but please note that the workshop is located at the top of a hill with an unpaved road and not all drivers accept the ride. You can also walk up or arrange for us to pick you up at the bottom of the road. Let us know in advance, and we’ll help you find the best solution.
Your board will be ready for pick-up approximately six days after the workshop ends. If you prefer delivery, shipping within Europe typically takes an additional 7 days and costs €100 to €200, depending on the destination and the size of the board.
We don’t offer overnight stays at the atelier, and visits during the glassing process after the workshop are not possible. However, if you're interested in learning more, we’ll be happy to share online glassing tutorials specifically for wooden surfboards.
Testing and Warranty
At the moment, we don’t offer test boards. Since each board is custom-built and not part of a rental stock, we prefer to keep them in the best possible condition. That said, if you have questions or need help choosing the right shape, we’re happy to guide you through the decision process. Just reach out, we’ll help you find the board that fits you best.
Our boards are handcrafted with high-quality materials. However, due to the dynamic nature of surfing, we do not cover breakages or damages caused during use. We offer a limited 6-month warranty against material and manufacturing defects. If you experience an issue within this period, please contact us, and we’ll assess the situation to find the best solution for you.
Payment and Refund
To secure your spot in a workshop, a €500 deposit is required. The final balance will be calculated at the end of the workshop based on your board choice and any custom options or extras. Payment can be made by credit card or PayPal only. A final invoice will be provided at the end of the workshop.
Cancellations made up to 14 days before the workshop are eligible for a full refund. After this period, no refunds will be issued. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the workshop, in which case participants will be notified and offered a full refund or the option to reschedule.
